Wow! What a nice long track out?! I hope everyone enjoyed the break and feels refreshed and ready to rock-n-roll for quarter three!
Yesterday, we had an introduction to our quarter three theme, "Sustaining the Oceans." We watched a pretty amazing TED Talk called "Underwater Astonishment," and began to think about what it would mean to live in a "World Without Fish."
We will spend the rest of the week diving into our first read of the quarter, World Without Fish, by Mark Kurlansky. We will use the book to discuss the use of word parts to decipher unknown words as well as the benefits of text features. Each night, students will be responsible for finishing any reading that was not completed in class. I have posted each night’s reading on the Gnomes Calendar, and it is written in the students’ agendas as well. It is extremely important that students stay on top of their reading, as we will be using that reading during class the following day.
I am looking forward to a wonderful quarter three!
