Happy Monday! A couple of things going on this week in Language Arts- There will be a nonfiction test on Tuesday. This will cover text features, text structure and author’s purpose. The vast majority of the assessment will be application of these topics, not just vocabulary. The students seem to have mastered the vocabulary , so the assessment will be a step up from that. There is plenty of material in the ILL if students need to review. Beginning on page 42 of the notebook, we have notes and practice on each topic.
The novel project is off to a great start. Students seem to be loving their books and have been having thoughtful conversation in class surrounding them. We will start our nonfiction research portion of the project this week with a lesson from our media specialist, Mr. Caggia. We will work hard to find connections between our historical fiction novel and the nonfiction research that supports the novel. This is always fun- makes us feel like detectives trying to put the pieces together!
Students should have their novels completely read and annotated by next Monday, March 6th. At this point, we will really begin planning our presentations.
Thank you for all of your support! Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!
