In an example of "everything that can go wrong, will go wrong," we were just informed that our school’s data management system is down and that our school cannot automatically generate a list of Honor Roll students and/or certificates for tomorrow morning’s Honors Assembly.
Here is what we are going to do about that: We are going to generate a list of Honor Roll students by hand and print our own certificates so that we can acknowledge the hard work of your students.
We cannot, however, guarantee that we will get everything right! Please know that in advance. If we fail to recognize your child at tomorrow’s assembly — or if we give your child the wrong Honors Certificate — we promise to recognize them at another team function (our pizza party, our yearbook signing, our quiz bowl competition) before the end of the year.
Here is how we will calculate Honor Roll status:
1). All Honor Roll decisions will be based ONLY on the fourth quarter grades that we currently have access to. While we THINK those are final grades, we can’t guarantee it. Either way, they are the most current grades we have access to.
2). A Honor Roll will go only to students who have As in EVERY class — including PE and elective classes that we can find current grades for.
3). A/B Honor Roll will go to students who make As or Bs in every class — including PE and elective classes that we can find current grades for.
4). A/B Honor Roll will also go to students who have Cs as long as they have an equivalent number of As. So a student with one C can be on the A/B Honor Roll as long as they also have at least one A.
It’s not a perfect system, but it is the best that we can pull off on short notice with 95 sets of student grades to check.
Thanks for your understanding and feel free to reach out directly with any questions.
