Just a quick heads up to let you know that there are several new science grades in your child’s average. We’ve had a summative task called “Get in the Game Density Revisions” and a unit test on our matter unit.
Overall, I was disappointed with the grades that students earned — particularly on the Get in the Game revisions. Students didn’t put very good effort into their thinking/writing, even though they had exemplars to look at and time in class to review the assignment with partners.
I’m thinking that may have something to do with this being the fourth quarter! Please remind your students that even though the end of the year is near, they need to put their best effort into every classroom assignment.
You can log in to PowerSchools to see what they are OR you can ask your child to log in to PowerSchools and print a grade report for you. Every child has their own username and password for their grades.
And if you are not happy with your child’s grade, know that there is a lab due on Friday that we are calling the “Solubility Lab.” A good mark on that task can help to raise averages — so students with low grades should put extra effort into that assignment.
Hope this helps,
