One of the activities that students on 6-4 have the chance to participate in during Spartan Time is called Kiva Club. Kiva Club is designed to give students chances to change the lives of people in developing nations. It’s a pretty powerful opportunity that often opens the eyes of our students to the level of poverty in places like Africa or South America.
Next Friday afternoon, our Kiva Clubbers are hosting a “movie day” after school. We will be showing a movie called Salam Neighbor — which is designed to raise awareness about the Global Refugee Crisis. Here’s a preview:
We are hoping to have a HUGE turnout from 6-4! Not only do we think the kids will have a great time being together, we believe that the kids will learn a ton about both global poverty and the refugee crisis which is dominating world news.
Here are the details:
Date: March 11, 2016
Time: Concessions open at 3:15 in the cafeteria. Movie starts around 4:00. Parents should pick kids up around 5:30.
Place: Salem Middle School
Your child can pick tickets up from me (they are free) during class or from a Kiva Club member at any time.
Please consider encouraging your child to attend — and if you want to come and join them, we’d love to have you, too!
Thanks a ton,
