Update on Science Happenings

Dear Parents,

Just a quick update: In class this week, we’ve been finishing up our study of ecosystems. Specifically, we looked at the water cycle, the carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle. This made for a nice connection to earlier conversations that we had about the notion that matter in the universe is never created or destroyed — it just changes forms and cycles through the earth over time.

We also started studying the different kinds of interactions that plants and animals have with one another in ecosystems. Specifically, we looked at mutualism, commensalism and parasitism.
