Reminder: Field Trip on Wednesday

Dear Parents,

First, please know that I am really looking forward to having your students back! They are an important part of my day and I’ve missed them over the last few weeks. Thanks for letting me be a part of their lives. I’ll do my best to make sure that the rest of their year is full of wonder, smiles and success.

Second, please remember that we have our field trip to see Disney Nature’s Monkey Kingdom movie on Wednesday.

We will be using the movie as an introduction to the notion that animals are uniquely suited for the habitats that they live in. We will also be using the movie as an introduction to the notion that habitats have a unique combination of biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) factors that determine how well suited a habitat is for supporting life. Finally, Mr. Hutchinson is using the movie to talk about India — a region of the world that he is reponsible for teaching.

So all in all, the movie is a great connection to our curriculum — although your kids will just dig seeing a movie during the school day!

We will be back to school in time for lunch — so please remember to pack your child’s lunch or to send them with lunch money as if it were a normal day. Also, please know that the concession stand will be open. So if you want to send your child with money for popcorn or a Coke, that’s fine.

Hope this helps,
Bill Ferriter
