Why Honeybees Matter

Dear Parents,

Over the last few days in science, we’ve been studying photosynthesis — the way that plants create their own food out of sunlight, carbon dioxide and water. This is an important concept simply because photosynthesis is the reason that energy is introduced to the food chain. Without a plant’s ability to create its own food, it wouldn’t be able to pass that energy along to animals.

We connected this topic back to plant structures, specifically discussing the role that pollinators play in keeping our food chain healthy. Today in class, we looked at Honeybees as pollinators.
