During the course of our conversation about plant structures today, we watched this video about meat eating plants:
We connected it to the notion of natural selection — that plants and animals develop unique physical and/or behavioral characteristics that help them to survive and thrive in their natural habitats.
The question that I asked your kids was, “Why would a plant become a meat-eater? What would cause them to need to eat meat in order to survive, thrive and reproduce?”
