Are You Recording and Watching Cosmos Yet?

Dear Parents,

One of our students emailed me this morning about a new show on National Geographic that he thinks all y’all should be watching.

Here’s what he wrote:

Hi Mr. Ferriter this is Aaron.

A week ago I watched a TV show on National Geographic called “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.”

Neil deGrasse Tyson is the host (I’m pretty sure he was one of the guys in the article we read on whether or not space exploration is worth the cost) and he talks about a bunch of different things in space such as how Earth evolved or how the Big Bang happened.

During the show the make facts that to lots of people would seem really boring fun, the show is kid friendly and teaches you about Space. In the episode I watched Neil talked about Pangaea and Pangaea 2, which is what we are talking about in class so I thought I should let you know about it.

The show is really cool and during the space unit it may help people in class who aren’t that interested in space learn facts in a fun way. Here are some links to the websites:

I happen to agree with Aaron — Cosmos HAS been great and it WILL help students on our team to learn a bunch about the content that we are studying in class. If you’re not recording it yet, give it a look. I think both you and your kids will dig it.

Hope this helps,
Bill Ferriter
